When you look at the top results, you are going to be seeing some of the most popular YouTube channels.To make your search easier, you can just hover your mouse over the channel to see how many subscribers it has. This can provide powerful insights into how much traffic a given channel will get.


To further refine your count, click on the filters tab. This tab should be readily visible and display certain filters which can help you sort the videos. Search by view count to see the most popular videos.

You will see that Bethany Mota is the top search result with over 7 million subscribers. It’s safe to say that this is an active YouTuber with plenty of views. In fact, she has one of the most popular channels on all of YouTube.


Below her channel page link we see a video “Play doh Scoops ‘n Treats”. It has over 62 million views! By clicking on this video I can see if there is advertising available.

Finding A Video

To see if we can use this channel for advertisements, we must click on a video. You may notice that there are other relevant ads to come up with a video. These are from savvy advertisers who know their target.

You will be able to notice whether a given video allows advertisements or not. This is important when discerning the videos value to your audience.

What To Look For

Once you have found the video you want to target, click the ‘more’ tab. From there you will notice there is a section called “statistics”. This section gives you many different metrics for the video.

You will also want to start to collect other channels of relevance. Make sure that they have an ability to turn ad revenue on. This generally should be obvious by the amount of advertising that they have on their channel.


Make sure that you select high profile YouTube accounts that have an audience that you wouldn’t mind snagging. There are also some good videos that come suggested on the right side of your screen. Collect all the videos that you are interested in using and put them in a notepad. This is going to be critical for later use.

Let’s go back to the main results for our search term “diy” and this time filter by “Channel”. Now YouTube filters channels that we can potentially target with our ads. The default results will appear under “Relevance” but we can also filter by “View Count” to see channels that have higher viewership.

If they appear to have content relevant to your offer then click on some of their videos to see if they have monetization available.
