Social Marketing Secrets

Me and my family were taking a nature walk recently and I saw the most beautiful flower on the trail so I snapped a pic to share with my readers. It occurred to me in that little plant it had some insights to share with me.

In that moment the question popped into my mind, “Are you a pretty flower but an ugly plant?” No, I’m not referring to your physical appearance so relax. I’m talking about your business and how you  think the world sees your company. Maybe you think your product or service is pretty awesome but maybe you think the company story of how you got there is full of warts.

You would be surprised at how many connections you could make with customers that, otherwise, you would have never heard from. People love a great David and Goliath story, which if you think about it I think  you probably have lots of those stories to tell. Business start-ups are full of adversity and people really dig that stuff.

Don’t sell yourself short on getting you some positive press on ancient history of how you’ve gotten to where you are today. It’s okay to embellish as long as it is still truthful in order to really draw people in.

So if you are stuck with creating content for your business blog or social media start with how you came up with your business idea and the challenges you faced in the process. The beauty is that every story is unique and no one can tell your story like you can.

The name of the game is engagement.
